Today, “Hetakuso!” moved a tiny bit closer to the world.
I made hetakuso.org available in 20 languages. Twenty. That escalated quickly (lol).
At first I thought English would be enough. Then I wondered: wouldn’t it be more fun if people from all sorts of places could read it? Ten languages? Or… shall we just do twenty? So here we are.
Going global with AI
No, I did not suddenly learn twenty languages. My Japanese is occasionally suspicious enough already (lol). I worked with Codex to turn WordPress into a multilingual site, step by step.
AI used to be something I asked, “How do I do this?” Now it feels more like a partner I can tell, “Okay, let’s actually build it together.” I think, AI helps, I check the result, and when it fails we try again. It is surprisingly fun.
A global dream, followed by very ordinary work
Yesterday I was at my old house in Nikko, checking a worn rain gutter in heavy rain and asking AI how to repair it. Today’s grand plan is… cutting the grass in the garden.
Twenty-language global expansion! Reaching the world with AI! And immediately after that: mowing weeds. Quite a range.
How much grass can I defeat?
The plants in Nikko are extremely energetic. I may finish everything, collapse halfway, or announce “That’s enough for today” after thirty minutes. Even I don’t know yet.
Eventually I want a strange garden: dry landscape garden × botanical garden × vegetable patch, with natural stones, plants and vegetables. Today is the first step. It just happens to be weed cutting (lol).
Everything probably connects
Repairing an old house, making a garden, music, helping my girlfriend’s pottery reach people overseas, writing, and using AI to attempt things I could not do alone—these look unrelated. Somewhere ahead, though, they may form one road: from Japan to the world.
Twenty languages before the audience arrives
Hetakuso.org has only just begun. It is not a giant site visited by tens of thousands of people. Yet it already speaks twenty languages. The order may be backwards.
It is like opening an empty shop and immediately putting up twenty signs saying, “International customers welcome!” But that is very Hetakuso, and that is fine.
Going global while still clumsy
Someday someone on Earth may stumble across this odd Japanese site: one day I repair a gutter, the next I talk about AI, then I cut weeds and dream about sharing pottery and music with the world.
I do not want to wait until I become good enough. I want to head for the world while still being clumsy.
So yes: hetakuso.org is now in 20 languages. And now I am going to cut grass in Nikko.
For some reason, the road to the world begins in the weeds (lol).
